Nine members headed out from the firehouse at 4:30 AM today to venture up to Balsam Acres Tree Farm in West Leyden, NY where we connected with members of the Pleasant Valley Fire Department and the tractor with flat bed trailer provided by SNOW FOUNTAIN SUPPLY (also from Pleasant Valley). We loaded up with nearly 300 trees to be split by our two departments and were back to unload at our Glenham fire house at approximately 1:30 PM. We were joined by more members of our department who made unloading, sorting and stacking a near breeze.
We'll do more preparation in the days to come and will be ready to open for sales in time for Friday, November 29th at 6:00 PM. We have 150 trees this year to allow for more of our wonderful community to have the opportunity to come purchase one of these beauts and we'll have 72 decorated wreath's as well. Once again, the tree selection will be Fraser Fir and Balsam Fir in various sizes.
For anyone seeing this who lives in the Pleasant Valley Fire District / Community ... their sales also begin on the 29th. Please support them and we can ensure you that they have the same great trees .
We truly wish to thank Snow Fountain Supply for their generous donation of the flatbed and all fuel costs. That saved as a huge expense this year! |
