On Tuesday Evening, 7/23/24, despite the heat and humidity, a group of dedicated Glenham firefighters led by Chief John Broas, trained on proper use of our hurst tools also known as the jaws of life. Members used the spreaders and cutters to remove the doors and roof from the vehicle which is commonly done on the scene of auto accidents to allow firefighters and EMS personnel the best access to treat and remove victims from the vehicle. Firefighters also practiced rolling a dashboard which is done when a victims leg(s) becomes trapped. Among the firefighters in attendance was our newest member, Probationary Firefighter Frank Armento who got hands on experience operating these tools and learning many other skills that are used at auto accident scenes. While many others remained inside staying cool, your Glenham firefighters were outside, training to ensure we are always ready to assist you at any emergency you may experience.
