On Saturday, April 20th, Lieutenant James Olson led fire behavior training. Utilizing a prop that was customized in house for this training, firefighters had the opportunity to see how different conditions can dictate how a fire behaves. Conditions covered were the difference of having the fire room door open Vs closed, differences in temperature once a roof is cut and windows are taken for ventilation vs. when it’s not, and also what smoke tells us about how far fire may have progressed. Throughout the training, firefighters utilized a thermal imaging camera to see differences in temperature.
