On Thursday August 10th at around 5:45pm, the Glenham Fire Department was dispatched to a priority 1 head on auto accident with reported entrapment. Upon arrival of rescue/pumper 43-12 it was determined that one of the victims was in need of extrication. Firefighters went straight to work, working to get get the victim safely out of the car. Due to the condition of the vehicle and firefighters and EMS making every attempt to keep the victim as safe as possible throughout, this was a prolonged extrication. Both victims were removed from their prospective vehicles and transported via ambulance to nearby hospitals. The Glenham Fire Department was assisted on scene by Beacon Volunteer Ambulance, Ambulanz, Town of Fishkill Police, New York State Police, County Car 17 Steve Van Buren, and the Chelsea Fire Department who handled road closure duties for us. Thank you to all agencies involved for your help in making this a successful outcome.
Heading home from 9D, when I drove up to the accident scene. Looked horrendous. Great job by all the agencies involved in assisting these two motorists.
